One of my favorite birding destinations in Orlando is Gatorland. It’s a very old private park that clearly has two purposes: to display and raise alligators and to be an amusement park. The birds have discovered that a small pond infested with alligators is a super safe place to breed. And they get to snack on the cookies that are given to the alligators. In the spring, there are nests of herons, cormorants, storks and anhinga birds on every tree. And it brings in more customers: the birders.
